Not so long ago my husband and I had to make a tough decision…..
There comes a time when couples need to make tough decisions based around there lives and the future of their family and kids. Covid 2021 hit and we ended up in a tough position financially and needed to find a way out before we got stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Our thriving business had slowed down and we weren’t able to keep up with our expenses and keep on living our normal life, things got tough and after months of us trying to go online with the business and us also looking for permanent jobs, again, things just werent changing for us. The sad part about it was we never lived a lavish lifestyle to start with and the harsh reality was that we weren’t even going to be able to support ourselves by both of us living in the same country together.
Fast forward to a few months in, now with us living apart with a two hour behind time zone, three kids, busy schedules, working and trying to build our lives up again to some stability. I am seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel and I am here to give some tips that helped me cope with going from a 11 year everyday together, supportive marriage to becoming somewhat of a single mom over night and having to learn this new marriage path of a long distance relationship.
1. Share your love and feelings
Even though we are apart, we send each other loving messages, supporting messages, encouraging messages and when we are feeling sad and missing each other or when he misses the kids, we talk about it. No one at the end of the day will understand your feelings and what emotions you are experiencing besides you and your partner. So I recommend talking through the good and bad days and keeping things strong in your communication.

2. Keep your goals in mind
If your goals are always in your mind, the daily struggle will get easier and you will start to adjust your mindset to get through the distance knowing that you are both working towards your goals. Sharing your goals are a great way to keep motivated and strengthen your journey together.

3. Find a hobby
Best thing that keeps your mind and self busy is finding a new hobby to take up, or if you like me start your fitness journey and find your inner strength. It takes about an hour of my day to day schedule with myself and the kids but I am telling you for me its the best hour out of my day. I spend the time not only challenging myself physically but mentally and well who doesn’t love to see their bodies changing for the better. Hello, self confidence!

4. Talk whenever you can – dirty to!
Knowing each others schedules is important. Then you are planning your time and day around one another’s schedule with ease and not getting disappointed when one is busy at work, sleeping or out with family or friends. Communication as I always say is vital in all relationships near and far, so try to embrace the conversations whether they are short or long. Let your kids film videos to let your partner know how their day went and let them send videos back, this way the kids are involved and don’t feel the separation too.
Keep the flames hot by sending each other flirty texts filled with sexual chat and provocative descriptions. Sexy puns work pretty well too, and if your feeling adventurous send some sexy pics back and forth too. Explore the new age technology and keep your intimacy strong.

5. Stay Strong and stay positive
Keep filling your life with positive energy and people to keep you going through this tough journey. It can be painful and it will be no doubt about it, you will cry you will feel over whelmed but you need to remind yourself that the ending is going to be sweeter than the challenge.
So stay grateful, be thankful always, because you are still in love and still making it work through all the toughness. Sometimes the little things in life are the most meaningful, you both are happy and healthy and if you have kids you are blessed to have them in your lives and others family or friends that are there for you both. It will soon be a memory to look back on to be proud that you both overcame it.
